Simply hummus is my homemade recipe that can be whipped up in just 10 minutes. Once you try it, you’ll never go back to the supermarket version. It’s also cheaper and lasts for days in the fridge.

In addition to this classic hummus recipe, I’m excited to share that I have a downloadable hummus ebook available. Notes from Rouba

  • If your ice cubes are big, use only a few, or don’t add the water
  • 1 ice cube = 1 tablespoon water
  • If your ice cubes are big, use only a few, or don’t add the water.
  • If you have no ice cubes, substitute them with water.
  • Why Ice? Friction creates heat so this Keeps the temperature down when processing the chickpeas allowing for a smoother brighter finish.

Method

Step 1.

Drain the water from the chickpea can and rinse.

Place all the ingredients in a food processor and blend for two minutes. Open the cover and scrape down the sides and continue to blend until the hummus is smooth (about 3-5 minutes). The longer you run the blender, the smoother it will be. Adjust seasoning.

Drizzle with olive oil and garnish with sweet paprika.

  1. I tried the hummus Recipe by boiling chickpeas at home … instead of canned Though…but many a times others say to add olive oil while blending the hummus in the blender which make the hummus to oily even though we use olive oil…the tip of adding ice cubes not only resolved the oil issue but also a creamy body texture to the hummus…it a mayo or cream for any Vegan lover …
i also tried the garnish tip shown here and it was a serene delight on our food table

  2. Delicious, I will be making this again and next time trying your beetroot version. My 9 year old loves it too. Perfect to add in her lunch box. Thx Rouba x
