About this recipe

If you’re craving sticky, golden chicken wings with a punch of flavour, this Sticky Lemongrass Honey Chicken Wings recipe is a must-try. The combination of garlic, ginger, chilli flakes, and lemongrass creates a delightful marinade that coats each wing to perfection. While many of my dishes are Lebanese-influenced, I love exploring cuisines from all walks of life, and these wings are a testament to that. My children smash these wings, and I always make double because they rarely make it to the dinner table – they’re often eaten right at the kitchen bench. Do me a favour and have them hot!

Transitioning from my traditional recipes, such as Oven Roasted Garlic and Lemon Chicken Wings and Barbecue Chicken Wings, this lemongrass Honey Chicken Wings recipe brings a new twist to your kitchen. The garlic and lemon version offers a refreshing citrusy burst, while the barbecue wings bring a spicy, smoky delight. Whether you’re a fan of wet marinades or prefer a spicy dry rub, there’s something for everyone. Method

Step 1.

Preheat oven to 220° fan forced.
Place all Marinade ingredients in a bowl, stir until well combined. (This step can easily be done straight in the oven pan to avoid dishes).

Step 2.

Place the chicken in a baking tray, pour over the marinade and toss well to coat. Cook in hot oven turning wings over every 7 or so minutes to coat in the sauce, for approximately 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is sticky, golden and cooked through.

Step 3.

To serve arrange chicken on a plate, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped coriander.

That’s me at the age of 32 with Merlin, who worked closely with Palestinian families. Together, we were so excited about the project. After that unforgettable visit with Auntie Suad, I was filled with excitement about the project. The women I met were inspiring, and together we had even come up with a name for the cookbook: Taste of Palestine. 🥰🇵🇸 It was a name that captured the heart of what we wanted to share—stories, recipes, and traditions tied to the land and its people.

But for many reasons, the project didn’t go ahead. At the time, I wasn’t prepared for the reality that not everyone would understand or support what I was doing. There were people who gossiped, joked, and made me question myself. Looking back now, I see that they were the minority, but their words had a way of making me doubt myself 🥺

if this happened now—I would not have let anything stop me. This was for a good cause, but I also believe that everything happens for a reason. The project was meant to be set aside, and I needed to focus on my boys, who were still young.
A couple of years later, we received the heartbreaking news of Auntie Suad’s passing 🥲🙏🏽It felt as though a part of the story had been left unfinished. A few weeks later, something arrived in the mail that would bring me to tears 😭 There’s more 🤗
