About this recipe

I’ve always been a fan of skewering chicken for barbecues and grilling, but this Crispy Chicken Skewers Recipe offers a delightful twist. Unlike my usual barbecue blog recipes, where skewers dominate the scene, this method involves frying to achieve that irresistible crunch. Like the classic favourites from my kitchen, such as the Crumbed Chicken Schnitzels and the Easy Chicken Schnitzel Burger, this Crispy Chicken Skewers Recipe is simple yet satisfying. For those who love a bit of zest, check out my Easy Lemon Herb Chicken recipe – a one-pan wonder bursting with flavour. Notes from Rouba

  • These skewers can also be air-fried or oven-baked; just brush them with oil first.
  • Make sure the skewers you use fit into your frying pot.
  • Dice the chicken a bit larger than bite-size to keep it moist and make it easy to skewer.

Along with this tasty recipe, I’ve got some cool tools to share that make frying these chicken skewers a breeze. First up, check out the Non-stick “PROGLIDER” fry pot. It’s got a super durable body that heats up evenly, so your skewers cook perfectly every time. It works on any stove, cleans up easy with just a bit of soapy water, and you can grab it for 10% less with my code ‘roubasfood’—even on sale items!

And if you’ve got a bit more room and a plug nearby, the Tefal fryer is awesome too (I love this one). It filters the oil, stores it for you, and everything but the electrical element is dishwasher safe, making clean-up a cinch. It also has a digital timer and auto shut-off, so you can cook without any fuss.”

Method

Step 1.

Cut the chicken breast fillets into cubes that are slightly larger than bite-sized for easy skewering.

Sprinkle the cumin powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, chili flakes, and dried parsley evenly over the diced chicken. Toss to ensure all pieces are well-coated with the spices.

Thread the seasoned chicken onto skewers, spacing the pieces evenly.

Step 2.

Beat 2-3 eggs in a bowl. Season with a little salt and pepper for extra seasoning (optional). Dip the chicken skewers into the beaten egg, ensuring each skewer is fully coated.

Roll the egg-coated chicken skewers in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure a good coat.

Step 3.

Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. It's important not to let the oil get too hot; if it is, the breadcrumbs on the chicken skewers will burn before the chicken is cooked through.

Carefully place the breaded chicken skewers in the oil. Fry them until golden brown and crispy on all sides, and the chicken is cooked through, about 4 minutes per side.

Remove the chicken skewers from the oil and drain on paper towels.
