About this recipe

Candied Mixed Nuts are an easy and thoughtful edible gift that never fails to impress. Quick to make, beautifully presented, and bursting with festive flavours, they’re sure to wow your family and friends during any celebration. This isn’t a traditional recipe, but if you know me, you know I love adding a twist to classics. Here, I’ve taken cinnamon and nutmeg—much-loved spices in our cuisine—to create a deliciously crunchy snack with warm, comforting notes.

Nuts hold a special place in our culture, being far more than just a snack; we often use almonds, pine nuts, and more to garnish salads, rice, meat dishes, and appetisers, adding the perfect crunch. • Use good quality nuts for the best flavour and crunch.
  • Feel free to use your favourite nuts to make this recipe your own.
  • If you have a sweet tooth, add a bit more sugar to satisfy your craving!

For an extra special touch, I love presenting these candied nuts in a beautiful teapot—it adds charm to any gift! If you’re looking for some great nut mix options or want to see the teapot I used, here are my recommendations.

Method

Step 1.

Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F).

Bring a pot of water to boiling point. Add the nut and let boil for 2 minutes. Drain and place in a bowl.

Step 2.

In a bowl add the remaining ingredients and combine. Add drained nuts and toss well until nuts are well coated with the spice sugar.

Step 3.

Roast in the oven for approximately 10-15 minutes or until crunchy.

Get creative in how to present it. Garnish with dried whole roses if gifting (optional)
