Chocolate-Dipped Petit Fours Butter Cookies are a melt-in-your-mouth sweet treat that I simply adore. There’s something about their elegant look that makes me almost love admiring them as much as eating them. These cookies are classic in the Middle East, often filled with jam, dipped in chocolate, and sprinkled with vibrant, crunchy nuts. They keep well, making them a perfect edible gift, and I’ve even featured them in my blog article on 15 Edible Gift Ideas—great inspiration for your next celebration.
In Lebanon, the name for these cookies is French, a nod to the French influence in the region—but, if I may be a bit biased, I believe we make them even better. Walk into any pâtisserie in Lebanon, and you’ll find these cookies in so many flavours, shapes, and colours, each with nuts that are exceptionally fresh and crunchy. If you enjoy these, be sure to try my Mamoul—a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth celebration cookie. You might also enjoy my Almond Shortbread Biscuits; they’re fluffy, crunchy, and delightfully simple to make. Using good quality butter makes all the difference for the ultimate buttery biscuit!
I used a Piece Cookie Press and Icing Set to create these beautifully shaped cookies. It makes the process simple and fun!
Step 1.
Preheat the oven to 180° degrees. Line two baking sheets with non-stick paper.
In a bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well to form a dough.
Step 2.
Shape the dough using a baking tool. Otherwise, you can form small balls and press them lightly. Just make sure they are the same size. Bake in a preheated oven for approximately 8-10 minutes or until the edges are golden in colour. Leave on the tray to cool completely.
Step 3.
You can enjoy these cookies as is or make them tastier by gluing them together with any jam flavour you like. Soften the jam a little in the microwave, then simply spread it between two pieces and stick them together.
Dip in melted chocolate, then dip again in sprinkles, shredded coconut or finely ground pistachio and place on a non-stick paper to cool down.
Golden, crispy ashta filo parcels filled with luscious cream! These addictive treats can be enjoyed warm or cold—perfect for any occasion.
This moist namoura slice topped with Attir syrup is a family favourite. Perfect for gatherings and inspired by Middle Eastern flavours!
